Mary Ojo-Carons, MD, MBA, MS, FACOG

Dr. Mary Ojo-Carons is a women’s healthcare expert, researcher, author, and consultant in the areas of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and reproductive science. As a board certified OBGYN, she is the founder of EvoScient Gynecology. Dr. Ojo-Carons has previously practiced medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Hennepin County Medical Center and at the James J. Peters Veteran Affairs Medical Center in New York. Dr. Ojo-Carons conjointly served as a physician at the Mount Sinai Hospital System, New York where she also attended residency. During her tenure at Mount Sinai, Dr. Ojo-Carons was presented with the Outstanding Teacher of Obstetrics and Gynecology Award. Her educational approach to patient care was also recognized as the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.

Prior to residency, Ojo-Carons earned her Doctor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Her academic diligence earned her the Georgetown University National Medical Association Dean’s Award and the Georgetown University Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Award. Dr. Ojo-Carons received a Master of Biomedical Science from Rutgers University (formerly The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina

Dr. Ojo-Carons still serves her academic community as an Assistant Professor of Ob/Gyn at Eastern Virgina Medical School and as a Georgetown University Alumni liaison, helping the next generation of graduating physicians. Her other memberships include The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, The Sexual Medicine Society of North America, The International Society of Sexual Medicine, The American College of Healthcare Executives, The American Medical Association, North American Menopause Society, and The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

A believer in patient advocacy Dr. Ojo-Carons utilizes her daily platform to provide revolutionary care. Highly rated by patients as an excellent communicator, Dr. Ojo-Carons has mastered educating women about their bodies to be easily retained and comprehended. Dr. Ojo-Carons also strives to empower physicians with the tools they need to provide complete care for their patients. It is her desire to be a bridge builder, filling the gap between the clinical front lines and governance. Her belief is that with not only a seat at the table but also a microphone at the at the podium, the voices of physicians and patients can join together to be echoed all the way up to policy makers to provide quality, vested, care for all people. 

“I have a career long commitment to the sustained growth of women’s health. Not only as a board-certified physician and surgeon, but also as a wife and mother to two children, one of which is my daughter, Lillian. My vision for reproductive medicine surpasses the examination room and reaches globally to ensure that women everywhere, especially in rural and under-served communities, receive the care they need when they have limited access to medical facilities. Over my 15 years of medical research, I observed a pattern within the structure of how we care for patients. The system created to heal women was often serving itself, more than the human lives we have been entrusted with. That is why I am dedicated to evolving the way we provide for our patients and the lives that have been entrusted to our hands. The first time I delivered a child, I realized the gift wrapped within the duty of my job. To be the guide for a baby entering the world. I felt the gravity of my assignment to be an advocate for the voices of those mothers and children. I understand first-hand the importance of being a voice for my fellow physicians to be supported at the state and national level with the tools we need to do our jobs. It is my passion and purpose to evolve our current systems with the innovative technology of the future, to improve healthcare delivery and challenge the way we think about women’s health.”
